Jeff’s Post – A Day of Rest is a Good Thing!
I woke up yesterday feeling as tired as I’ve ever felt. I’m finally getting over a cold I’ve been dealing with for weeks and I think it just caught up to me. I got up, ate breakfast and then did the unthinkable – I went back to bed for an hour. Last year I would have felt like a failure or some weakling because I ditched my run for sleep. I vowed in 2012 to run smarter and going back to bed was part of that plan. I was coming off 6 running days and resting was the right thing to do. I’ve had some great runs lately and I believe it is due to the fact that I’ve been paying more attention to how I feel both mentally and physically. So remember a little rest is the first step to a great run.
