Jeff’s Post – January Fog!
It has been a strange weather month so far in Maryland. We have had spring like weather and hints of winter. I have 5 outside runs in the books so far, definitely not typical for early January (The treadmill spoils me a bit and in the winter months – I’m more of a fair weather runner). Last night I drove home in sleet/snow and this morning I woke up to dense fog.
Mentally, I feel like my running so far this year has been a little like the weather can’t seem to make up its mind. I’ve had some good runs but mentally I have been all over the place. I ran my first longer run since December on Saturday (10 miles) and for the first time in ages I felt like stopping after about 5 miles. I’m proud to say that I pushed through, finished the 10 miles and felt great afterwards.
I’m not worried about my occasional mental fog, every runner has moments of feeling like Rocky and feeling like Glass Joe. I’m a “Rocky” runner, I have the “Eye of a Tiger” and I’m hanging tough and staying hungry!
Have a great running day and don’t lose the “Eye of a Tiger”!
