Jeff’s Post – Time With An Old Friend!
This morning I got to spend some time with an old friend. Some may not consider a 4.8 mile loop a friend but I do! This loop starts right out my front door and goes through a small winding country road (well traveled by Amish buggies) and ends with about a 3/4 mile incline. I’ve run this loop recently but it was typically the beginning or end of a 10 to 20 mile long run. Today I was just running the loop and Tamara was along for the run which made it even better. It was nice to know at the beginning that this was going to be a short run (we have decided to reduce the December mileage a bit). I felt good from the start and all of my senses seemed to be on overload. It was my coldest so far this year and there was a decent headwind but none of that seemed to matter. The sun was out, the clouds were puffy, my music was rocking and I was outdoors running with Tamara – just a great feeling. As I was running up the incline I couldn’t help but think of when I first started running. I remembered the first time I walked this loop, the first time I ran half of the loop, the first time I ran ½ way up the hill and the first time I ran the whole way up the hill. At that time 4.8 miles seemed like a marathon. It is a great feeling to see how far I have come and it was great spending some time with an old friend!
Hope you had a great weekend!
