Jeff’s Daily Post – Runners do other things too

So I decided yesterday after my 14 mile run that I would take today off – at least from running.  When I woke up this morning my legs were sore but after 5 minutes or so of moving around I actually felt pretty good and considered getting back on the treadmill but……decided it would probably be best to get on the bike trainer and that is what I did.  I only rode 30 minutes (a little over 6 miles) but still felt like I got a decent workout and in reality I didn’t want to push it that much this morning.  I’m always amazed at how different the workout on the bike is.  Obviously, I prefer running but I like to mix the bike in on occasion to give my legs a break from all the pounding.  When I’m on the bike trainer I feel winded almost right away (I never feel winded from running).  Since my bike ride was shorter than my normal run time I had some extra time for weights and was able to get in a strong ½ hour.  Looking forward to getting back on the treadmill tomorrow.  I doubt I will be able to top my mileage from last week but I’m ok with that for now.  Strong body + Strong Mind = Strong Runner.  Have a great day!
